Star lineman picks LSU, Lane Kiffin after leaving Deion Sanders

Former Colorado offensive lineman Jordan Seaton is transferring to LSU to play for coach Lane Kiffin.
Seaton was the No. 1 offensive line recruit in the nation when he joined Colorado under coach Deion Sanders.
Seaton’s departure came after he previously expressed loyalty to Colorado and encouraged other players to join the team.

Former Colorado star offensive lineman Jordan Seaton is headed to LSU to play for head coach Lane Kiffin after two standout years under Colorado coach Deion Sanders.

Seaton announced it on Instagram Friday, Jan. 23 after a whirlwind recruiting process that also involved Miami (Fla.), and Oregon. A Florida booster claimed Seaton’s representatives, which includes his uncle, wanted the bidding for Seaton’s services to start at $2.5 million. It’s not clear what he will earn at LSU for his name, image and likeness (NIL).

“To Coach Kiffin, LSU and State Of Louisiana Thank You For an Opportunity to chase Greatness – The Franchise,” Seaton said on Instagram.

Seaton will be a junior at LSU but is expected to declare for the NFL draft after the 2026 season. He played left tackle at Colorado, where Sanders recruited him from the IMG Academy in Florida as the No. 1 offensive line recruit in the nation. After deciding to transfer, the 6-foot-5, 330-pound Seaton was the No. 4 transfer prospect in the nation for 2026, according to 247Sports.

At LSU, he’ll be expected to protect Arizona State transfer quarterback Sam Leavitt, much like he did in 2024 for Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders and three Colorado quarterbacks in 2025.

His departure from Colorado left many Buffaloes fans sad or bitter because they liked his apparent loyalty and talent as a future NFL draft pick. He won the 28th annual Buffalo Heart Award given to a favorite CU player by fans.

As recently as Jan. 7, Seaton was trying to get his cousin, Ohio State offensive line Jayvon McFadden, to join him in Boulder.

“Yoo! U wanna play together?” Seaton said to his cousin on social media site X.

McFadden committed to Colorado.

Seaton announced he was leaving Colorado on Jan. 12, 10 days after the transfer portal opened for business.
